Hacking for Good this weekend with Tropo

This weekend, December 2-4, thousands of developers, hackers and coders will be joining forces in 32 cities around the globe to participate in Random Hacks of Kindness 4.   This is the third RHoK event we’ve partnered up with Geeks without Bounds to sponsor and help organize events in San Francisco, Portland and Milwaukee.

New Text to Speech Voices – Australian English + an Extra American English

Our Australian friends and developers have gone too long without a TTS voice to represent their region, so we hopped to action and added both Grace and Alan to the list of available voices. While we were in there, we also added Veronica as yet another U.S. English alternative, because why not?

Introducing TropoVBX

As you may recall, Disruptive Technologies recently extended the capabilities of OpenVBX (the open source cloud PBX software) to run on our Tropo cloud communications platform. The original blog post announcing this project was entitled, “Jailbreaking OpenVBX“. This title was chosen carefully because at the time of the post, OpenVBX only ran on a single cloud platform. Disruptive Technologies was able to extend the communications layer of this application to not only add support for Tropo but also simplify future efforts involved in adding support for other platforms such as Asterisk, FreeSwitch, and others.
