Introducing the new AT&T Call Management API powered by Tropo
January 4th, 2013 by DiggzYou may have noticed we’ve been a little quiet around here lately. That’s because we’ve been busy elves, working on a host of projects, not the least of which is that our own Tropo community manager, Cristina Moe Salanova, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Please join me in congratulating Cristina and her husband Carlos on the newest member of the Voxeo Labs team.
But we’ve been busy with other things too, and yesterday I gave a workshop using Crunched.com talking about the new AT&T Call Management API being announced this weekend at the annual AT&T Developer Summit in Las Vegas. The reason I was giving this workshop is because the new Call Management API is powered by Tropo.
While it’s still in beta, AT&T’s entire developer community now has access to all of the call control, cross-carrier SMS, text-to-speech and speech recognition capabilities that Tropo.com offers, plus access to AT&T’s suite of other API’s including their Payment API, MMS API and Location API. Developers can use the same code that they use for Tropo.com, giving existing Tropo developers even more options on where they would like to run their apps.
This is the first time we’ve launched Tropo inside a U.S. carrier, (the very first one was in Germany when we launched Tropo inside Deutsche Telekom‘s Developer Garden) and we’re excited to be partnering with AT&T’s Developer Program. Over the next year we’re going to be seeing more carriers adopting the Tropo API, proving Tropo isn’t just developer-friendly, it’s carrier friendly too.
This weekend in Las Vegas, hundreds of AT&T developers will get to play with the new API during the AT&T Developer Summit, with over $75,000 in prizes and a concert by the Killers! Many of the Voxeo Labs team will be on hand as well to assist developers in building apps using the new AT&T Call Management API.
You can view my presentation called “Intro to AT&T Call Management API” at Crunched.com.
