This weekend in San Francisco, join Tropo for a special kind of hackathon welcoming first time hackers. Everyone Hacks is designed to create safe space while expanding what you think you’re capable of. In a collaborative setting, you’ll produce a surprising amount of work in a very short period of time, both with people you have only just met and old friends. The event is reaching out to women who are interested in these events, and is definitely transgender and queer friendly. Male-bodied folk are also welcome.

This is a guest post by Willow Brugh, director of Geeks Without Bounds
Hi, I’m Willow Brugh (aka willowbl00), and I have the honor of telling you about Geeks Without Bounds and response, specifically to Hurricane Sandy. What’s Geeks Without Bounds, you ask? GWOB links together hacker, maker, and developer communities to humanitarian organizations to make good ideas field ready. We participate heavily in other people’s hackathons (like Random Hacks of Kindness and SpaceApps), and provide 6 months of mentorship to teams and projects (some of which come out of those hackathons). We are accepting applications through December 12th. /shamelessPlug
